Scalp Micropigmentation by ROOTWORKS Cambridge aftercare instructions and guidelines

These are the aftercare instructions to make the healing process simple, enjoyable and, most importantly, no-fuss.

Wash the tattooed area with warm water 3 HOURS after the procedure. Then do not wash the scalp again for 3 days.

Use wipes to clean the area before bed time.

Avoid touching, showering and shaving the treated area.

Do not let other people touch the treated area.

Avoid using shampoo or moisturizer on the treated area.

Avoid direct sunlight, activities that cause excessive sweating and (heavy exercise, steam rooms and saunas) and swimming.

Shower the treated area using a mild or baby shampoo

If shaved, continue to keep the hair short with an electric razor/shaver/hair clipper.

Apply the provided aftercare cream twice daily for 4 days to prevent dryness and flaking skin.

Wash your scalp with warm water to remove dead skin cells.

Avoid showering your head for the first 4 days after the final treatment, and have light warm showers for another 4-5 days.

After week 1 you can begin using a shampoo that is light. Baby/ a natural shampoo is a recommended choice.

After 4 DAYS moisturize your scalp daily using the aftercare cream or a non-perfumed lotion.

Avoid swimming, saunas and steam rooms for 1 MONTH as this may cause fading.

Keep the treated area out of the sun for 1 MONTH and thereafter please use a high SPF (30-50) sunscreen.

Avoid heavy exercise for 14 DAYS after your final treatment, to reduce excessive sweating.

Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in colour and more sharply defined. This can last up to a week after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place. The treated area may feel a bit like sunburn afterwards but there should be minimal discomfort.

During the initial healing period, there should be minimal scabbing or flaking of the skin. If there is some scabbing or flaking, do not pick, and allow the scab or dry skin to come off on its own.

Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. Wear a hat for further protection. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.
